Whilst Strictly speaking the station was in Beeston, it has been known by a number of names: ‘Beeston’ (1840), then ‘Beeston Castle’ (1868) and in 1873 it was renamed as ‘Beeston Castle and Tarporley’ – but as the ‘bard’ once opined “A rose by any other name … “ . It was closed in April 1966.
