Good morning Utkinton and Cotebrook.

For sometime I have been pondering the quotation inscribed on our War Memorial, it reads:

“Greater love hath no man than this (we know that this first line is from John 15:13)

They gave their hearts to their homes

They gave their lives to their country

They gave their souls to God”

I had thought it might be from Canon Hughes, but can find no reference except in the Tarporley Newsletter of September 1918, which simply states the inscription.

Can you help in any way?
