Today Tarporley Parish Council hosted a meeting – unfortunately I didn’t attend as I had forgotten to add it to my online calendar – the gist of which was how the Ward could commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day (for those who are wondering it stands for ‘Victory In Europe’).
The Government has already moved the May Bank Holiday from Monday 4th May to Friday 8th and is asking the people of the UK to commemorate the occasion in some way, or other.
From what we gather, Tarporley PC is looking to close the road and lay out tables and have street decorations for one of the days – Friday 8th May. There will be tables and chairs to enable residents and visitors to bring their own picnic or to buy food along a WW2 theme from shops and cafes along the High Street.
It is hoped to be able to provide some street entertainers as well.
So, we have a question for the residents of Cotebrook and Utkinton; “Would you like to participate in a commemoration by way of a BYO (Bring Your Own) Street Party in Tarporley?
Or would you prefer to attend something more local at either of our excellent village halls, or perhaps at Rose Farm or even the grassed area behind Woodlands Close?
What would you like to do? Could you offer help?
If you would like to answer to any of the above questions please write to us via utkintonpc@gmail.com or utkintonandcotebrookclerk@gmail.com
