You will, no doubt, have heard that the date of the Early May Bank Holiday has been moved to Friday 8th May 2020 and that the Government are proposing national and local celebrations. We know that Tarporley might have a ‘street party’ so too will Little Budworth. This was discussed in outline at the Parish Council on Tuesday 11th February and we would love to hear your views.
The Parish Council is considering how Utkinton and Cotebrook should mark this event and will be holding an open meeting immediately prior to the next Parish Council Meeting in Utkinton Village Hall on Tuesday 10th March, from 7:00pm to 7:30 pm, please come and give us your views.
This isn’t a competition, but we are putting some ideas forward for discussion. All ideas will be considered along with offers of help from residents, businesses and community groups.
- The Parish Council would host a single celebration – possibly at Rose Farm (like the Jubilee Celebrations)
- For each Village Hall Committee to host celebrations in the two villages
- For the Parish to join the proposed Tarporley Street Party.
In any event we would like to have as many of our Parishioners who might have lived through the original VE Day on 8th May 1945, to attend and, perhaps, to gather their memories of the events and any photos they may have.
Please contact us via utkintonandcotebrookclerk@gmail.com if you would like to attend the public meeting.
