A resident brought this to our attention – apologies if you already knew.

 United Utilities are working on replacing the water main along Northbrook Road.  They have 3 way traffic lights working at the junction of Northbrook Rd and Quarry Bank.  Their workmen told me that they will be digging holes along the route of the replacement wherever a pipe goes off to a house, or (presumably) another road (e.g. The Crescent), and plan to thread the new pipe through the old, probably on Monday.

We are likely to have no water at some time on Monday, but they will be delivering cards/letters telling us when it will happen.
